Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose is scheduled to meet TMC leaders at Raj Bhavan at 4 pm on Monday to discuss the withholding of MGNREGA funds by the Centre. This meeting could potentially bring an end to the five-day-long protest led by Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of CM Mamata Banerjee, outside Raj Bhavan.
Abhishek had been adamant about his sit-in protest until the Governor returned to Kolkata and addressed his questions regarding the withheld funds.
Upon his return to Kolkata from Darjeeling on Sunday night, Governor Bose emphasized that Raj Bhavan is open to the people, and leaders of any party are welcome there from 4 am to 11 pm. He expressed his willingness to meet those who wish to see him within this timeframe.
Earlier in the day, the Governor had announced his intention to meet individuals affected by the lack of MGNREGA employment opportunities in the state and convey their concerns to the Centre. However, it remained unconfirmed whether he would specifically meet with Trinamool's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee.
